My first day in Tokyo and instead of doing the easy thing and sleeping and adjusting to the time zone difference, I take the better option and just head out into the city - language barriers and time zone adjustments be damned! I found myself in Shibuya, in the middle of Japanese culture - dense and definitely not catered in any small way to foreigners. It was quite the opening experience to my Tokyo trip.
